Detailed Objectives
Recognizing that access to the political process at the precinct, municipal, state, and national levels is a prerequisite for the empowerment of our people, we the members of IDAAC deem it our mission and mandate to develop political and educational programs to:
- Educate and Activate
- African Americans towards political empowerment at all levels through the organization and mobilization of a community based movement which will amass the needed resources to achieve our mission;
- Create
- A thorough understanding and use of available political power;
- Encourage
- Complete mastery of the use and application of voting and other political power tools to achieve the interests of African American, i.e. the initiation of a statewide voter education and registration drive;
- Involvement in election campaigns of African American candidates;
- Active involvement of African American youth through “learn by doing” methods, mentoring, other educational techniques that are implemented through community based organizations and churches;
- Enhance
- Political accountability in which the African American community gives financial support to candidates and they, in turn when elected, promise to represent the interests of the African American Community
- African American delegates and candidates account for themselves and their polities to functioning and duly authorized structures of IDAAC.
